SBI Clerk 2014 - Interview Experience

Venue: SBI Zonal Office, Chandigarh
Date: 8th December 2014
Panel: 1

Document verification started around 9:30 am and it took 15 to 20 minutes for verification. They are very strict about identity verification and character certificate by Gazetted officer. They rejected one candidate as his identity was not verified.

My Interview started around 12 30 pm.

There were 5 people in the panel - Four Male and One Female

I entered the room.

M1-  Is your name XXX?

I said yes sir

M1 - Please come in and have a seat.

I said good morning to all and took the seat.

M1- So you have done your B.Tech in ECE, tell me about the scope of ECE in today's world.

ANS - I said that ECE has scope both in public sector and private sector departments, then I told some of the companies like Samsung,  Bharat electronics which provides jobs to ECE graduates.

M1- So if u get the opportunity to work in those companies will you go there?

Ans- No sir I always wanted a career in banking sector and if I wanted to go in such companies then I would have prepared for them but I am preparing for banking exams from last 5 months because I want to grow in banking sector.

M1- OK, so tell me about your work experience with your previous company.

I told that (never say anything bad about your previous company)

Now the lady sitting on the right started asking

F - So tell me about ur family background.
Told

F- Who is the chairman of SBI?
Told

F - Tell me some other banks who have a lady as a chairperson.
Ans- ICICI - Smt. Chanda Kocchar
BMB- Smt. Usha Ananthsubramaniam

F- Ok good. Now tell me some of the females who were in news recently

Ans- Malala yusuf for winning the nobel prize
Saina nehwal

F- ok now tell me why u want to join Sbi
Ans- Mam its the country's largest bank and also it is a fortune 500 company and if I talk practically it has the best pay scale as compared to any other bank and if i get to start my career with sbi then nothing could b better.

F - Recently a scheme has been launched by PM to promote financial inclusion what is the name
Ans- Jan dhan Yojna

She smiled and asked the other person to ask now

M2- What is cross selling? And how can you relate with banking?
Ans- Sir it is the selling of additional products with the current product and in banking we can relate it to selling of mutual funds and insurance etc.

M2- Good.

M3- Who was  the first female judge of Supreme court?

I said I have no idea sir.
He tried to give me a hint but I didn't remembered

Now the last person asked some questions about computer and its parts. I started to give ans then he interrupted me and said me to ans in Punjabi language. As I applied for punjab state.

So I told the ans in Punjabi they asked basic questions about Ram, Rom, etc

At last everyone thanked me and said all the best for the results

So over all the interview went good and lasted for 7 to 8 mins
